Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been an Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for more than 20 years. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and owner of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. She was born in Greece and relocated to England at the age of 16. In Cambridge University, she graduated with an MA in Economics. The first graduate who was not from the UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Her popularity as a conservative journalist was further consolidated when she completed her studies. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few years later, she created an online voice-portal that provided critiques of the state of the nation's politics. It was her celebrity that has led to the attraction of many well-known contributors for posting their thoughts on news as well as politics and culture. Arianna was famous after she was elected as an independent in the California recall elections in order to replace Governor Davis. Alongside that, she also spearheaded the Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes named her as the most influential female in the media industry in the year 2009. The newspaper was ranked as in the 12th spot on Forbes' listing. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media in 2009. AOL bought The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. In 2012, she became the President of the media division at AOL. It included a number of AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was born to a journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was a close friend to her father, it was her bond with her mother which shaped her life. As a child she demonstrated leadership skills which she is still renowned for. In the year she turned 16years old, she emigrated from the United States to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she was a member of Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first woman president, and also the only president from outside the country. She graduated in 1972 with an honorary degree in Economics. In the years following her graduation, she was a critic columnist and television host. She also appeared with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
